| Robert I. Girardi- "Railroad Defense in the Atlanta Campaign"
Robert I. Girardi has had a life long fascination with the Civil War,
has studied it from all sides, and has tramped over many of the
battlefields and related sites. Has collected artifacts and memorabilia
and read through thousands of documents and letters written by
participants. Rob has become an author and historian in his own right
and a popular speaker and consultant on the American Civil War to
audiences of all ages. Rob created a Civil War exhibit for the Bureau
county Historical Society in Princeton, Illinois and has spoken to
historical societies and Civil War groups throughout the United States.
A well known authority on the Civil War in the Chicago area, he's been
interviewed on both radio and television on aspects of the war. Robert
earned his M.A. in Public History at Loyola University of Chicago in
1991. A past president of the civil War Round Table of Chicago;
currently vice president of the Slat Creek Civil War Round Table and
belongs to two other CW round tables in the Chicago area, is a fellow
of the company of Military Historians and is an associate member of the
Sons of Union Veterans. Robert is on the editorial review board of the
Journal of the Illinois State Historical Society and has consulted for
the Chicago Historical Society on its Civil War exhibits. the winner of
the 2010 Chicago Civil War Round Table's prestigious Nevins-Freeman
Award, Rob has written numerous essays and book reviews and has edited
nine books. Mr. Girardi lives and works in Chicago where he is employed
as a homicide detective by the Chicago Police Department.

| Michael J. Manning - "They Fought Like Veterans: Honey Springs and The Civil War in Indian Territory"
Michael Manning is currently the Chief Ranger of fort Donelson National
Military Battlefield, Dover, Tennessee where he has been stationed for
four years. a 22 year veteran of the National Park Service, Mike
previously served in various other NPS areas including Horseshoe Bend
National Military Park, Alabama: for Larned National Historic Site,
Kansas: Scotts Bluff National Monument, Nebraska. He previously served
as the military related National Historic Landmarks coordinator for the
NPS in Oklahoma. He holds a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice,
Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, Oklahoma and a M.A. in
Military History from the American Military University. He served five
years as an Equipment Operator 2nd Class with the U.S. Navy Seabees and
another seven years as a First Lieutenant in the Military Police Corps
of the U.S. Army Reserve and National Guard. He is also a graduate of
the Land Management Police Training Program at the Federal Law
Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Georgia. Mike began his historic
interpretation work while a student at Northeastern State by first
volunteering then becoming a part time Historic Site Attendant with the
Oklahoma Historical Society at Fort Gibson Historic Site. He has been
married to his wife Karen for 26 years and has one daughter, Becky. the
family, along with Becky's fiancé Colin Hayes, are active
members of Immaculate Conception Catholic church in Clarksville.
Mike and his family reside in Woodlawn, Tennessee.

| Dr. Brian D. McKnight "Champ Ferguson: Guerrilla Extraordinaire" Dr. Brian D. McKnight is Associate Professor of History at the University of Virginia's College at Wise
where he teachers American military history and courses in the civil War era. He earned his B.A. degree at UVA Wise, his M.A. at East Tennessee State University and his PhD at Mississippi State University. His first book, Contested Borderland: the Civil War in Appalachian Kentucky and Virginia (Kentucky, 2006), won the James I Robertson Literary Prize in Confederate History and his most recent book, Confederate Outlaw: Champ Ferguson and the civil War in Appalachia, (LSU Press), was released in April 2011. In addition to these works, he also worked on the Ashley Judd episode of NBC's Who Do You Think You Are?. Everyone knows about William Clark Quantrill and Bloody Bill Anderson and their counterparts Jim Lane and "Doc" Jennison. Do you know about Champ Ferguson? If not then you have not heard the complete story of true guerrilla warfare. I speak from some knowledge of the subject. My relatives live near the area of Champ's birthplace. Bruce Gregory. |

| Dr. Terry A. Barnhart- "Albert Taylor Bledsoe's Civil War" Dr.
Terry A. Barnhart is professor of history at Eastern Illinois
University. Dr. Barnhart's primary teaching and research
interests center on nineteenth-century American intellectual and
cultural history. He obtained a B.S. in Education from Miami University
at Oxford, Ohio in 1975, and a M.A. in History from Miami in 1980 and a
PhD in History from Miami in 1989. Before joining the history faculty
at Eastern Terry was an associate curator at the Ohio Historical
Society in Columbus, Ohio from 1983-1994. He is the author of Albert
Taylor Bledsoe: Defender of the Old South and Architect of the Lost
Cause published by Louisiana State University Press in 2011 and of
Ephraim George Squier and the development of American anthropology in
2005. Albert Taylor Bledsoe was a complex and interesting man. I'm sure
you will enjoy Dr. Barnhart's lecture on the defender of the old south
and architect of the Lost Cause.
